San Angelo ISD Students Advanced to Area and State After Placing at Visual Arts Scholastic Event

On Saturday, February 18, 2024, Central High School and Lake View High School art students participated in the annual Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE). The event, held at Central High School, featured students from across the region showcasing their artwork, including paintings, sculptures, and more.

The contest included 19 schools and 269 entries with 98 pieces of artwork created by Central High School students and 15 pieces of artwork from Lake View High School students. As part of the competitions, students make incredible art, complete the contest paperwork, and are interviewed by a judge.

“VASE competition allowed students to talk about their process and inspiration to judges as well as peers,” said SAISD Director of Fine Arts and Advanced Academics Tiffany Huebner. “One of the most rewarding things to hear at the competition was the encouragement students gave to each other about their artwork. It allowed students the opportunity to link with students across the region and share their passion for art. We have incredibly talented students and teachers in our district, and I especially want to thank the teachers and judges for the time and dedication they put into hosting this event.”

We are so proud of our Central High School and Lake View High School students who advanced to the area level, and several that are advancing to state. Congratulations to:
